Aminé has a wonderfully liquid face — bugged eyes, wide smile and exaggerated expressions. The glee he telegraphed in the “Caroline” video immediately marked him as a new but not unfamiliar kind of hip-hop outsider, one preoccupied with brightness, melody and light absurdity, an inheritor of Tyler, the Creator’s primary-color exuberance and the earthen emotional presence of the Native Tongues. His major label debut album in 2017, Good for You was joyously off-kilter, taking in Southern rap, cheerful pop, indie rock and more. It’s amiable, inventive and idiosyncratic, one of the most intriguing hip-hop albums and also a bold statement of left-field pop. On February 26, 2020, Aminé released the single, “Shimmy” followed on May 29, 2020, he released the single “Riri”. On July 6, 2020, Aminé released the single “Compensating” featuring Young Thug, whilst announcing and revealing the cover art and release date for his second studio album, Limbo released later in 2020.
