DESCENDENTS

Doors: 7PM

Show: 8PM

Support: Radkey, Rehasher

Fueled by “rejection, food, coffee, girls, fishing and food,” the Descendents sprang up during the halcyon days of the Los Angeles punk scene; fusing the blind rage of hardcore with an unexpectedly wry, self-deprecating wit and a strong melodic sensibility that set them distinctly apart from their West Coast brethren. They gradually emerged as one of the most enduring and adored bands of their time. Formed in 1979, the Descendents initially sported an edgy power pop sound inspired by the Buzzcocks. Through ups nad downs and intermittent disbanding and rebanding, the Descendents returned in 2016 with Hypercaffium Spazzinate, their first new studio material in 12 years. The album delivers all those good Descendents feelings their fans love. “Each time we make a record it’s almost like the first time all over again,” says drummer Bill Stevenson.

The Revolution

The Revolution formed in 1979 when Prince joined drummer, Bobby Z and keyboardist Matt Fink. Over the next four years, several formations would emerge until finally Prince found the band he felt could master the challenging musicality of his vision. The legendary final line-up included Lisa Coleman on keyboards/piano, Wendy Melvoin on guitar and Brown Mark on bass. The Revolution was credited on three Prince studio-albums, Purple Rain, Around the World In a Day and Parade while some members also played on 1999, Controversy, Dirty Mind, Around The World in A Day and Sign O The Times. Together, they earned multiple #1 hits, as well as two Grammy® Awards and an Oscar, with the song “Purple Rain,” for Best Original Song Score in 1985.

OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) w/ GGOOLLDD

Featuring the core members Paul Humphreys and Andy McCluskey, the Liverpudlian synth pop group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark released its first single, “Electricity,” on Factory Records; the record led to a contract with the Virgin subsidiary DinDisc. In 1980, the group released its self-titled debut album. It was followed by Organisation, which featured the U.K. Top Ten single “Enola Gay.” The band’s next few albums — Architecture & Morality, Dazzle Ships, and Junk Culture — found the band experimenting with its sound, resulting in several U.K. hit singles. Crush, their most pop-oriented album, found more success in America than in Britain as the single “So in Love” hit number 26 on the charts. “If You Leave,” taken from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack, was their biggest American hit, climbing to number four. After a hiatus a full-blown reunion came in 2006, including both McCluskey and Humphreys. They dabbled in a few more projects and as soon as they were off the road they began writing songs for another album. Taking its name, and some inspiration, from Italian divisionist/symbolist painter Giovanni Segantini’s work titled The Punishment of Luxury, the band’s 13th album was made by the duo of McCluskey and Humphreys and released by White Noise Records in September of 2017.

Ones To Watch Presents: COIN

Formed in Nashville but carving a space in the field of bright, synth-spiked indie pop more often associated with L.A. and N.Y.C., COIN were started by students at Belmont University in 2012. They sold out a show for the first time in the summer of 2013, and the quartet of Chase Lawrence (vocals/synths), Joe Memmel (guitar/vocals), Zachary Dyke (bass), and Ryan Winnen (drums) signed with Columbia that fall. Working with producer and co-writer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Cage the Elephant), they released their self-titled debut in 2015. Behind the single “Run,” it landed on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. The band came back a year later with the kissing anthem “Talk Too Much.” It was the first single from their second album, How Will You Know If You Never Try, which was released in the spring of 2017, and rose on the Billboard Alternative chart.

Clutch – Psychic Warfare World Tour w/ Devin Townsend Project

The eleventh Clutch studio album Psychic Warfare goes straight for the throat with “X- Ray Visions” and never lets go. Working again with acclaimed producer Machine, this time in Texas, the concise arrangements that made Earth Rocker so assertive is the same harness for the combustible musical energy on Psychic Warfare. Harder, faster… let the rhythm hit ’em. Formed in 1991, the Maryland-based band’s ability to absorb different musical styles and fabricate them into a distinct Clutch sound continues to be their forté. “A Quick Death In Texas,” overstocked with signature “Clutch heavy” Tim Sult riffs and lonesome guitar licks, and the funk undercurrent of “Your Love Is Incarceration,” color Psychic Warfare with articulate musicality and comfortable familiarity.
Neil Fallon: Vocals/ Guitar
Jean-Paul Gaster: Drums
Dan Maines: Bass
Tim Sult: Guitar

Reverend Horton Heat – Horton’s Holiday Hayride w/ Junior Brown, The Blasters & Big Sandy

The Reverend Horton Heat is perhaps the most popular psychobilly artist of all time. The Reverend (as both the three-man band and its guitar-playing frontman were known) built a strong cult following through constant touring, manic showmanship, and a twisted sense of humor. The latter was nothing new in the world of psychobilly, of course, and Heat’s music certainly kept the trashy aesthetic of his spiritual forebears. The Reverend’s true innovation was updating the psychobilly sound for the alternative rock era. In his hands, it was something more than retro-obsessed kitsch — it had roaring distorted guitars, it rocked as hard as any punk band, and it didn’t look exclusively to pop culture of the past for its style or subject matter. Most of The Reverend’s lyrics were gonzo celebrations of sex, drugs, booze, and cars, and true to his name, his concerts often featured mock sermons in the style of a rural revivalist preacher.

Dirty Heads w/ The Unlikely Candidates & Tyrone’s Jacket

After two decades spent chiseling their unique, multi-genre infused sound, Dirty Heads have finally come into their own. Following in the footsteps of their California brothers Sublime, Huntington Beach’s Dirty Heads mix hip-hop, reggae, and rock along with that laid-back South Cali attitude. Since the release of their 2008 debut Any Port in a Storm, the five-piece band—Jared Watson (vocals), Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell (vocals/guitar), Jon Olazabal (percussion), Matt Ochoa (drums) and David Foral (bass)—has consistently experimented with their sunny style, leaning heavily on reggae fused with hip-hop cornerstones and scaling back for more acoustic fare, darting between extremes.

SHAGGY

Shaggy Ft. Lauderdale

Multi Grammy award winning artist Shaggy is by all accounts the true definition of a renaissance man, besides his continuing success in reggae/dancehall music and it’s influence on pop music worldwide, Shaggy is fierce businessman, and humble philanthropist. Since exploding on the music scene, Shaggy’s several gold and multi-platinum selling albums have won him a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Reggae Album, 5 Grammy nominations, and topped an impressive chart list that included the Top 40 Rhythmic charts, Hot 100, Billboard 200, among others.

In 2012 Shaggy launched new label, Ranch Entertainment, Inc. The premiere reggae fusion label, headquartered in New York and Jamaica, was formed with the premise to develop and facilitate innovative approaches for up and coming artists to excel in the current market and provide established artists with opportunities outside their usual channels. The label was received to much fanfare which translated in a Sony/Brooklyn Knights/Ranch Entertainment deal. The unprecedented union still allowed Shaggy to have creative say in the production of his music, yet have a powerhouse supporting his music and brand.

Shaggy illustrious career has seen the international superstar perform alongside some of the biggest names in all genres of music, notably he recently collaborated with his longtime friend and producer Costi, as Shaggy joined Afro Pop artist Mohombi and Australian singer Faydee on the recently released vibrant and catchy single, “I Need Your Love.” The success of the single was eminent, and Shaggy traveled to Spain’s Castellon Coast to film the blockbuster video, capturing the international flavor of the song. To date the video has garnered over 30 million views.

His accolades are too many to count, but distinctly his appearance on the long running late night talk show “Tonight Show” for a “Shaggy Off” tops the list of Shaggy’s career highlights. Through it all, the charismatic star has remained humble, taking his career in strides. He has defied the odds, succeeded on his own terms and continues to break down barriers for those who dare to follow in his footsteps.

ISSUES – Headspace Tour w/ Volumes, Too Close to Touch & Sylar

Issues ft. lauderdale

Issues are an Atlanta, Georgia metalcore band formed in 2012 and was quickly

signed to Rise Records imprint Velocity just a few months after formation. Issues'

first EP, Black Diamonds, arrived at the tail end of 2012. A genre-blurring mix of

metalcore, R&B-tinged pop, and Linkin Park-esque nu-metal DJ breaks, their self-

titled first album Issues debuted in the Top Ten of the Billboard 100. An acoustic

EP, Diamond Dreams, was released later that year, featuring their 2013 stand-alone

single, "Hooligans." Issues returned to the studio to record their sophomore LP,

Headspace, which they are touring in support of.
