The Magpie Salute

The Magpie Salute is an exciting new band that features musicians who have played together for decades throughout various projects and share a musical bond. The band brings Rich Robinson, the guitarist and co-founding member of The Black Crowes, together with two key members of Crowes fame – guitarist Marc Ford and bassist Sven Pipien – alongside drummer Joe Magistro and guitarist Nico Bereciartua. The Magpie Salute marks the reunion of the Robinson and Ford guitar team which ended back in 1997 when Ford left The Black Crowes. The band also boasts a fine cast of vocalists, including lead singer John Hogg (Hookah Brown, Moke), former Crowes singer Charity White and background singers, Adrien Reju and Katrine Ottosen. The term “Magpie Salute” references a British superstition about the imperative to salute a Magpie anytime you see one in order to ward off negativity, or to have a good day. Clearly, The Magpie Salute intends to mix it up, breathing new life into musical bonds, rooted in tradition and the universal language of Rock and Roll.

BLUES TRAVELER – 30TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

Blues Traveler started their career in the late ‘80s, and went on to become one of the most widely known artists in the jam-band scene. In celebration of their monumental 30 year career, Blues Traveler has announced that they will embark on a 30 Year Anniversary tour this October. Kicking off on October 11th at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, CT, the 25 date run will take the band across the US, wrapping up at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA on November 19th.

Pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase starting on Tuesday, April 25th and tickets for the general public will go onsale on Friday, April 28th starting at 10:00 a.m. local time. Frontman John Popper states, “Three decades… three decades and I am still surprised when we play and find some rich new musical vein to tap. Three decades and I cannot believe my luck with this band of brothers and this string we have run! Thirty years since a bunch of loud boys embarked on an adventure that took them around the world and made them a family that has not ceased growing to this day. Thirty years later and I am still so very grateful.”

Guitarist Chan Kinchla adds, “The longer I do it the more I like it! I remember laying on my bed at 13 years old in Princeton, New Jersey. Spinning my precious LPs, dropping the needle back across a part over and over trying vainly to scry some part of a Bowie record or a Clash record or a Pretenders record, maybe gazing at the back of the album jacket as side A played again and again. All I dreamed of was playing in a cool band with great musicians, in front of a bad ass crowd, creating a floating, bubbling, hissing group. Think rock show in the shiny lights. The fact that I’ve been able to be a part of exactly that for 30 years leaves me humbled and thankful and wanting more….much more!”

Blues Traveler — John Popper (lead vocals, harmonica), Chan Kinchla (guitar), Tad Kinchla (bass), Brendan Hill (drums), and Ben Wilson (keyboard) — have a proven reputation for their improvisational live shows and tireless touring. With a total of twelve studio albums — four gold, three platinum and one six-times platinum — they have sold more than 10 million combined units worldwide, and played over 2,000 live shows in front of more than 30 million people. Their hit “Run-Around” is the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history, and earned them a Grammy® for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1996. The group also founded H.O.R.D.E. Festival, a touring progressive rock music festival and creative nest, hosting everyone from Beck and Neil Young to Ben Harper and Squirrel Nut Zippers.

Continuing the tradition of sitting in with other bands, Blues Traveler’s John Popper has sat in with countless artists all over the world, including Foo Fighters, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Keith Urban, and even alternative acts like Passion Pit. With an open mind, it’s no surprise that on the group’s latest release, Blow Up The Moon, they took this a step further to enlist a range of artists across the musical spectrum, representing country, pop, reggae and hip-hop, on their first-ever collaborative album.

As they enter the fourth decade of their career, Blues Traveler will begin recording their a brand new album this May, expected for release in early 2018.

ALTER BRIDGE w/ guests Nonpoint

Fittingly, on their fifth full-length album, The Last Hero, hard rock juggernaut Alter Bridge pursue a level of excellence inspired by timeless heroism. Making the record became something of a personal quest for the quartet—Myles Kennedy [vocals, guitar], Mark Tremonti [guitar, vocals], Brian Marshall [bass], and Scott Phillips [drums]. In 2013, the band reached an elevated creative and critical milestone with Fortress. It bowed at #12 on the Billboard Top 200, moving over 30,000 copies first-week and earning unanimous tastemaker praise. The record garnered perfect scores from Total Guitar and KERRANG! as well as acclaim from Billboard, The Guardian, Loudwire, Ultimate Guitar, and many more. In between sold out tours in Europe and North America, the guys appeared on VH1 and graced the cover of Classic Rock Magazine who labeled Fortress, “The best thing they’ve ever done,” while Eddie Trunk called it, “A top 10 album of the last 10 years.” When it came time to write new music, the musicians collectively raised the bar yet again for The Last Hero. Ultimately, Alter Bridge heroically deliver for fans worldwide and rock music at large.

Revolution Fan Favorite Nonpoint provides support for the show.

Circa Survive On Letting Go 10 Year Tour

Live Music

Circa Survive with: mewithoutYOU & TURNOVER

Philadelphia’s Circa Survive was formed by former Saosin vocalist Anthony Green with guitarist Colin Frangicetto — both of them veterans of the local emo and hardcore scenes looking to indulge in the rule-breaking freedom of the neo-progressive movement of the mid-2000s. Circa Survive recorded an album, Juturna (named after a Roman goddess), for Equal Vision Records in 2005. Lots of touring followed, including Warped Tour dates, and the album steadily sold an impressive 100,000 copies. A spot at the 2007 Coachella Festival paved the way for the late May release of Circa Survive’s follow-up, On Letting Go, which cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard Top 200. The band eventually left Equal Vision to sign with Atlantic, and in 2010 released its third album, Blue Sky Noise, which eschewed many of the hardcore elements of records past in favor of a more melodic, indie rock approach. (No surprise that the album charted quite high, almost making the Top Ten.) The band’s fourth long-player, the self-released Violent Waves, arrived in 2012 and debuted at the number 15 slot on the album charts. After its release, Circa Survive signed to Sumerian, which reissued a deluxe edition of Violent Waves and then released the band’s fifth album, Descensus, in November 2014. Touring in 2015 and 16 celebrated the Tenth Anniversary of their first album Juturna.

POP EVIL

Melodic post-grunge outfit Pop Evil formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band developed a sound and performance style that took cues from the likes of Kiss, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam that aptly put them right in line with popular modern rock acts such as Crossfade, Shinedown, and Puddle of Mudd. The band released its debut independent album, War of the Roses before signing with Universal/Republic imprint Pazzo, who reissued their sophomore LP Lipstick on the Mirror. The album featured three singles that hit Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, including the Top Ten “100 in a 55.” The band enjoyed greater success with the E1 label, beginning with War of Angels and Onyx, both of which peaked around number 40 on the Billboard 200. Up, their fifth album was considered to be their best release yet.

City and Colour – USA Tour 2017

For someone like City and Colour’s Dallas Green, it’s hard to imagine that there’s much left to search for – he’s traversed the globe on tour, released numerous albums (one most recently as You+Me with Alecia Moore, aka P!nk) and collected scores of accolades. Though Green is a musician, he doesn’t make a show of things: that’s the songs’ job. Thus he’s done this all quietly, intentionally, still looking for the next answer or dog-eared chapter each record holds. And now he once again uncovered something new: a certain kind of family in his bandmates. Even more pivotal was trying to capture the essence of their live show symbiosis in the studio; which comes through with an undeniable force. For a project that was very much about the inner world of Green, these relationships have morphed City and Colour into something with more emotive power than ever before: the layers go beyond just music and lyrics, into the people creating the songs themselves.

City and Colour have released two new songs, “Peaceful Road” and “Rain”. The two never-before released tracks were cut in Nashville during recording sessions for his #1 album, If I Should Go Before You. The Peaceful Road/Rain EP is available via Dine Alone Records and is currently on Apple Music.
